The Hillside Internship Program is built to help you figure out if you're called to vocational ministry. You'll get real, hands-on ministry work paired with coaching and structured training, so you leave with a much clearer sense of whether long-term church ministry is the right path for you.

The Hillside Internship Program has two different experiences. The summer program takes place roughly from late May/Early June to mid-August (it changes yearly due to holidays and the church calendar). The second is an 11-month experience which starts in late May/Early June and ends in May the following year.

Throughout either experience, plan on receiving 8-10 hours of development and training each week while spending 30 hours per week on practical ministry, typically Sunday through Thursday.

Due to the full schedule, we request participants do not seek jobs elsewhere, but we are able to be flexible with school schedules.

Monthly stipends are available for participants. The stipend is a flat rate intended to cover living expenses; specific amounts are shared with applicants once accepted into the program.
For summer interns, we do not offer extra time off. For 11-month interns, we offer limited time off, correlating to your schedule commitment.

In addition to your basic information, be prepared to upload your resume, a photo of yourself, and a 60-second video telling us why you want to be a Hillside Intern. The video should be thoughtful and represent real goals you have for yourself. It does not need to be fancy, just capture it on your phone or your computer.

Classroom training rotates through Biblical History, Leadership Development, Spiritual Practices, and Practical Ministry topics. The summer program includes a few dedicated classroom blocks, while the school-year program has one weekly classroom block, with each intern also building a personal learning plan alongside their coach and mentor.

Outside of classroom time, each intern works directly with their coach on the day-to-day ministry work in their specialty area.

Housing is arranged independently by each intern; it is not provided by Hillside. The monthly stipend is designed to make typical shared housing (such as a roommate situation) workable without added financial strain.
